How to Use Oil as a Natural Way for Makeup Removal

The Easy Way to Remove Makeup with Oil

Did you know that makeup removal with oil is a very easy process? With a few tips, it works, and you have a great, sustainable alternative to conventional cleaning methods. With oil, you can remove makeup, dirt, or excess skin oil from your skin in a very natural way, without destroying the natural protective film of your skin.

How to Use Oil for Makeup Removal

Thorough facial cleansing is the basis for beautiful skin, especially in the evening before going to bed. The skin regenerates best at night, and new cells are formed. For this show of strength, your skin should be made fit every day. Skin cleansed with natural oil can regenerate wonderfully and is better protected against impurities.

At first glance, it might sound a bit unusual that you can use an oil to fight blemishes. But the special thing about the Oil Cleansing Method is: the oil not only cleanses your skin thoroughly but also nourishes it naturally and ensures that it does not dry out. After application, the oil leaves a delicate film on your skin that protects it from moisture loss.

Conventional facial cleansers often contain more aggressive substances in combination with synthetic fragrances or alcohol. This can irritate, dry out, or even damage the skin. The makeup removal and cleaning of oil, however, is much gentler but just as effective. Oils act as “natural solvents“: they bind substances such as excess skin oil and do not attack your skin in the process.

You save tons of garbage by not using facial cleansers in plastic bottles or disposable makeup removal wipes. That makes your skin and the environment happy! Removing makeup with oil is really easy and, above all, a sustainable alternative to other cleaning types.

With the Oil Cleansing method, there are two ways you can apply the oil and cleanse your skin. In the end, everyone should decide for themselves which method is more practical and pleasant for him or her. You can clean your face with a ready-mixed makeup removal oil, a pure natural oil such as jojoba or apricot kernel oil, or with a homemade DIY oil mixture.

Tips for Makeup Removal with Oils

Method 1

Wet your makeup removal pad with water and put a few drops of the oil on it. For example, you can use a pipette to apply the oil. Cleaning works best if you move the makeup removal pad over your face in circular movements. In this way, you can thoroughly rid your skin of makeup and dirt. Repeat the cleaning process as needed. Use fresh, moistened makeup removal pads and a few drops of oil again.

To clean the eye area: Place the moistened makeup remover pad with the oil on your closed eyes and briefly press it down. Clean your eyelid and lashes with gentle movements from the outside in. To remove leftover kohl, you can use cotton swabs, also moistened with a little oil.

Method 2

With this method, you first apply the pure oil to your skin and then remove it again. Apply a small amount of oil to your palms and rub it on your skin using circular motions. If you don’t want to use your hands to apply the oil, you can alternatively put the oil on a cotton ball so that it gently circles your skin and lets it take effect.

Then you remove the oil from your skin again. The best way to do this is with a damp washcloth, which you hold under warm water and then wring out. Put the warm, damp washcloth on your face – the heat will open your skin’s pores, and the oil will be easier to remove. Gently wipe the face with the washcloth and gently wipe the oil off. Repeat the process – until the oil is removed. In the end, wash your face again with cool water so that the pores of your skin can close again.

Each oil has different properties; it is, therefore, worth considering your own skin type when choosing the oil and then trying a little. But there are a few all-rounder oils: For example, organic apricot kernel oil is well tolerated by almost all skin types and is ideal for removing face and eye makeup. However, jojoba oil or almond oil is also well-tolerated oil. Combine the two oils with a pump dispenser – so not a drop will go wrong, and you can optimally dose the oil.
